The new site took existing branding elements from the packaging and extended it into the full “visual voice” of the brand. The first is a bed bug dog business—professionally trained beagles that can sniff out the presence of bed bugs, which have created a panic amongst New York apartment dwellers and hotel visitors. The logo plays on the “Watson” concept with a strategically gloss laminated magnifying glass on the business card, and a red plaid pattern on the back.

Joseph Fleischer is one of the oldest custom wig makers in New York, and a new owner wants to breathe new life into the business. The hairpieces are made by hand in the local workroom, where they are custom fitted and blended using the latest micromesh and high-quality human hair. Our logo design maintains the classic old world look with Trajan as the main font, with secondary type in Helvetica Neue. The logo has been applied to business materials, ads and a website.

Samuel & Sons, the well-known passementerie resource for interior designers, launched its first creative collaboration with world-renowned interior designer, Roger Thomas. Thomas is Executive Vice President of Design for Wynn Design and Development and a recognized leader in interior design for the hospitality industry. He designed the interiors of Wynn Las Vegas and Encore at Wynn Las Vegas, led the interior design of Wynn Macau and Encore at Wynn Macau. For 20 years, as principle of Thomas Design Group, Roger Thomas designed the interiors of the company’s many properties, including the Golden Nugget hotels in Las Vegas and Laughlin, and the most important properties on the Las Vegas Strip.

To launch the new collection, Tom Dolle Design directed a photo shoot for several key images and produced a promotional brochure highlighting the scale and flare of this luxurious collection. Samuel & Sons products are sold exclusively to interior designers at their key showrooms around the world.

Having worked with National Urban Fellows for several years now, we started with a complete rebrand of the 30 year old organization. A new logo represented the 3 main areas of their fellowship program—the fellows, the mentors and the alumni. Multiple print communications materials were produced along with a website.

Due to their expanding programming, Tom Dolle Design designed and developed a comprehensive, content-rich website to allow for more social media interaction, photo and video content, influential reports and papers, and areas for new initiatives. The expanded reach has led to new relationships with major government organizations and corporate sponsors.

These unique jewelry-inspired trims for the high-end interior design market once again demonstrates Weitzner’s penchant for dimensional texture, natural materials and culturally based design. The unique materials—leather, metal, coconut shell beads, Lucite and fabric—combine in forms unique for the industry.

In designing the photo shoot, it was critical to show each holdback with a curtain panel. Additional colorways were shot individually, and a few key shots were added to express the personality of the collection. The brochure will be the main selling tool for the multiple Samuel & Sons showrooms around the world, since sampling of such large and expensive items is prohibitive. The challenge was fitting so many items into a compact 8 pages, so our layout skills were put to the test—but the final brochure debuted to raves.

The logo, in cobalt blue and black, includes a “disappearing thought bubble” that represents the unfair articles, blog posts, consumer complaints and outright malicious search-engine results that a company may want to act on. An image slider of simple, bold photos with the applied pattern seen in the logo and concise typographic statements create a strong and memorable brand for the new start-up.

As well as a logo and website, the design program included a PowerPoint presentation template and business forms.

Working with Levine & Partners, Tom Dolle Design designed the “Couples Aware” rabbi education program, a partnership between the Jewish Genetic Disease Consortium (JGDC) and the New York Board of Rabbis, and funded by a one-year $50,000 grant from the UJA-Federation of New York, to discuss genetic testing during premarital counseling sessions. The education program included overall branding for the program, a comprehensive Learning Guide, handouts and brochures for the rabbis and couples, a PowerPoint presentation and various support collateral.

The first presentation was widely praised by the rabbinic community and featured in a story in The Jewish Week. The article stated:

The JGDC has plans to host “Couples Aware” training session for rabbis around the New York metropolitan area, with five dates already set over the next six weeks, with additional sessions being planned in Connecticut and New Jersey next year. The organization hopes eventually to take the program nationally.

Rabbis at the event received a “Rabbi Learning Guide,” which included a pledge to discuss genetic testing during premarital counseling sessions, which they were asked to sign that day, as well as brochures for them to hand out to couples who come to their office for counseling.

“We now have the tools to ensure that our children are born without Jewish genetic diseases,” said Yudenfriend-Glaser. “Let’s make sure we use them.”

Over the past decade, this program grew to include an iconic collection of still-life photography that has become one of the most well-recognized and respected advertising campaigns in the industry.

By explaining the creative process behind the photography, this book gives a unique glimpse into the mind of a designer. The 62 pages are filled with numerous images by New York photographers Monica Stevenson and Amos Chan, some presented publicly for the first time.

Tom Dolle Design is one of New York’s finest strategic design, marketing and branding firms. The company’s current focus is branding, communications and packaging, as well as design consultation directing strategy, staffing, long-range planning and product development.

Over the years Tom Dolle Design has garnered every major design award and Dolle has been quoted on design issues in publications such as The New York Times, Crain’s New York Business and Communication Arts.

A graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, Dolle is also an adjunct professor in Pratt’s Graduate Communications Design program. Key members of the Tom Dolle Design creative team include senior designers Chris Riely and Mary Hall, both graduates of Pratt Institute.

The workshop was part of a scholarship program to award graduate scholarships at partner institutions around the world including Pratt Institute, where Tom Dolle is an adjunct professor. The 2-week event took place June 28-July 10 at Yunlin University in Douliou City, Yunlin county in south-central Taiwan.

The 2-day workshop resulted in some amazing work. Students created letterforms out of common materials, photographed them and then created layouts including a famous quote on design. A complete sampling of the work can be seen here.

As a guest of the Taiwan MOE, Tom was taken on side trips around Taiwan with visits to Sun Moon Lake, Taipei, and Kaohsiung. He was joined by colleagues from USC, Art Center, Sheridan and Parsons.
